Ha Za!

Today is going well so far. I rode my bike to work and it was really nice. I also got up 15 minutes earlier than I normally do. It made a huge difference. I even had time to cook up some egg whites and eat them before I left.
Two goals from yesterday are well on there way. I also worked on a third goal last night. I'm almost finished making my triathlon sprint training plan. i would say it is 95% done. I just need to make a few changes(and then mess with the font.)

I went to lunch at an Indian place with some people from work. I ate too much rice and chicken. And Nann. Oooph, big mistake. Won't do that again.

Just a Few Questions

I stumbled across this blog today.
I think it's cool to see a guy blogging about loosing weight. He posed a few questions on his blog and I'm thinking answering them will help get me motivated.

1.What are a few of your fitness goals for summer?
I want to finish a Triathlon Sprint the first week in August. I also want to loose another 10 pounds of body fat. (Note body fat and not just 10 pounds)
2.What do you love to do, but neglect making time for?
Hiking
3.If you could learn anything this summer, what would it be?
I would like to learn how sew better.
4.What is your favorite summer activity?
Going swimming and being outside.
5.What have you recently done that you never thought you'd try/accomplish/attempt?
I never thought that i would be smaller than I was in high school.

This week is leaving me no time to work out after work. I have to work horses in the evening for the shoot this weekend. I wanted to get up early and go for a run but that didn't happen. I fancy myself a morning runner but I almost always fail in the attempt. *sigh* Maybe I should just stop trying to do that and stick to working out after work. Or maybe go back to doing it at lunch three days a week. I just don't have time to shower and workout unless I want to be at work until 7:00pm.
I'm also really tied and a little cranky. I'm hoping that things will be back to normal by next week. I can't even get my act together enough to make my meals for the week. I will finish it by tonight but man...I'm not usually like this. I'm not quite sure what is going on.

My eating has not been that great lately either. I have been starting out good but then it fizzles by the end of the day. When I'm not prepared I fall off the wagon and that is what has happened.

Plan of attack!!
1. Cook turkey tonight and portion out meals for the rest of the week.
2. Ride bike to work the rest of the week so you can get in a work out.(About 8.5 miles round trip.)
3. Get more sleep so you have more energy.
4. No more soda. You've had three this week already and two last week. Stop it!!

I really need someone to hold me accountable. So I want to start going to Crossfit. I just need to save for a month or two. So here is the plan until I can afford to do that.

1.Starting Monday focus on getting ready for triathlon sprint the first weekend in August. Make a plan.
2.Do yoga at least once a week.
3.Get back to eating clean and only having one free meal a week.
4. Sell clothes that are too big so I can buy new, smaller ones!

Wine Weekend

We had a great time in Walla Walla this weekend. I have never consumed so much red wine in my life. All in all I only bought 6 bottles of wine, which I think shows remarkable self restrain.

We had lunch at a great (and pricy) little shop right in town called Salumiere Cesario We ordered the Lunch Box and got fresh bread, some Bri Cheese and salami. It also came with a little mustard.

Delicious. (At this point I had been to two tasting rooms and hadn't eaten for about 4 hours. Happy time for Courtney!)

We also hit up the Walla Walla Bread Co. where I had a croissant with ham and cheese.

(This is one food item that I just can't say no to.) They had tons of breads and the place just smelled wonderful!

One of the coolest wineries we went to was L'ecole No 41.

It's in an old school house. They have awesome wines and we had a great time tasting and talking with the people that worked there. They also let you draw on the counter top. It's polished green slate.

And for our anniversary dinner we went to Saffron. Delicious delicious delicious!!!! I had the Guinea Hen and husband had Alaskan Halibut Tagine. Perfect in every way.

It was a weekend of indulgence. Nothing carb was left un-eaten. As a result, I'm really tired today. I'm also having a hard time being motivated to work out. This is going to be a crazy week. We have a mounted shoot this weekend and I need to work horses as much as I can. I also need to make my food for the week this evening. I'm also in charge of the silent auction this weekend so I've got to get that all taken care of. *Sigh* And somewhere in there I need to get to the gym.

My Thoughts That Bind

Ugh!!! I went and has sushi (not in itself a horrible choice.) But we also had these delicious sweet potato fries. I pretend that they are healthy because they are sweet potatoes but they are fried so they really aren't. It hit with a clang.
I know I have probably only gained a few pounds this past month but I'm really starting not to like it. Not feeling like I can work out very hard is frustrating. I know I have lost muscle mass and it's bothering me. I really need to get back into the gym and lift. I'm still worried about hurting myself but I think I need to get over it. Just go for it ya know.
I wish I had someone or something pushing me. I know that being fit and feeling good in a 2-piece should be enough. But as everyone knows, that's not the case. I really liked working with a trainer because someone was holding me accountable and taking measurements every two weeks. However, that is not an option at this point because of finances. I think that Crossfit would be a good choice but that isn't cheap either, but it's cheaper than personal training. I also think that I can do it myself. I have all the tools necessary to do so I just need the internal motivation. Argh! Hopefully I can shake this workout funk off and get back to it!

On a happy note, I made an awesome dinner tonight. Chicken Bruschetta. I used my own basil from our garden. It was delicious. I also had a salad with lettuce from our garden and some grilled corn on the cob. yum!!!

So at least the day ended on a high note. I'm all packed to go on our anniversary trip to Walla Walla tomorrow. I'm excited to go wine tasting and enjoy some really awesome food. We have 2 bakeries scoped out and a place that has cold cuts and cheese. I've also got some super cute outfits to wear. I'm going to revel in the fact that I am skinner than I was in high school and that there are a bunch of new clothes that now look great on me. (I'm most excited about my new wedge sandals.) I feel sexy and I'm loving my legs and arms.

I think that being confident is half the battle. So I'm going to own my body and know that there are plenty of women out there that would love to have it. Even with the things I believe to be flaws. It' s all relative.

Running and Running

Eating went ok yesterday. Dinner left something to be desired...water, 4 Fig Nutons, and a Tiger's Milk Bar is not the best choice. But hey, it could have been worse.
I just got to try again next time.
Husband and I loaded up the horses and took them for a trail ride out at my mom's house. It was a very nice evening and we had a great time.

After that we went for a 20 minute run. I don't know how far we went but I had a really hard time settling in. This is not uncommon for me. But the last half of the run went well. I was tired at the end and i slept like a baby. All in all a B- for the day.

The Best of Intentions

No yoga last night! We got to the Y and the equipment area was closed and all classes were canceled because they were installing new carpet. I was so bummed. :-(
So we went to the mall instead. I did get a new sports bra and an awesome Nike yoga shirt.

I also got a chance to make my lunches for the rest of the week. I love being prepared.
This is what my fridge looks like. I am the Tupperware queen.

I'm planning on going out to the ranch tonight and working horses right after work. Hopefully it won't be raining then. Then I'm going for a run and dragging Husband with me.

Fun With Friends

My good friend Allie (from Cali!)is leaving to go back to Cali to go to grad school. So last night husband and I went to see her. She was having a BBQ and I showed up with wine. (Surprise surprise.)

We had a nice time and Allie and I consumed an entire bottle of wine. Tee Hee. I did have some grilled chicken. But that was accompanied with normal BBQ fare such as, BBQ potato chips,
Then I made Husband stop for ice cream on the way home. McDonald's hot fudge Sunday is not nearly as good as Dairy Queen's. But it was 11:30 and Dairy Queen was closed. :(
So I'm trying to recover from my over eating last night. I think the best thing to do after a night of gluttony is to just get back on track by the next meal. So this morning I had a protein shake, 1/2 cup of oats (with Splenda and cinnamon) and an apple.
My snack was 3/4 cup of brown rice and 4.9oz. of ground turkey. (I usually do 4 oz but it was the last of the turkey and it just made sense to finish is off.) Note to self: I should really start taking pictures of this stuff.

Tonight is yoga at 7:30. I really like going and I totally count it as a work out. I have been super sore the next day from it before. Holding your body like that can be very challenging. I'm really looking forward to it.

Post Run

My run went well. I had a hard time settling in at the beginning but it all came together.
Here is my exact workout:
Distance: 2.4 miles
Time: 30:18
5 minute warm up @ a walk
1 mile jogging
.2 miles walk
1 mile jogging
Not too bad. I'm a ways off from where I need to be. I'm running a Triathlon Sprint on August 6th in Medical Lake.
1) Swim - out and around buoy – back to beach (approx. 1200 ft) Water is warm.
2) Bicycle – bike around Clear Lake. Easy ride. (I was told it is about 10 miles)
3) Run - around Medical Lake (approx. 3.4 miles counter clockwise).

I haven't been in the pool for a while and I need to get back in there. I'm trying to figure out when I can go this week. I need to work horses because we have our first shooting competition in two weeks and I want them to be ready. Tomorrow is going to present a bit of a challenge. Yoga is at 7:30 and I need to go. It makes a huge difference for my back. THis counts as my workout so I don't need to get in a run. I'm hoping that if i got right out to the ranch after work I can work horses and then go right out to the valley YMCA for yoga. We'll see how it goes.

BTW my fav post-workout drink is a protein shake. I love the Syntha 6 strawberry flavor. Yum! I also LOVE my Blender Bottle. I was $7 well spent, I use it every day. Husband was jloues so I got him one too.

Not Running the Trail

My afternoon plans have gone down the shiter. But I will overcome and get in a work out anyway. Waiting for Husband to get home before I take off out the door. I think I'm going to do my 2 mile loop again but at a steady pace this time. I'm not really wanting to because it's hot outside. I shouldn't complain because this is only the second nice day and I have been complaining about all the rain. But Working out in hot weather is never fun no matter how welcome the sun is. While I wait I wil look at my Pinterest board for inspiration.

Running the Trail

Husband and I are going on another run today. We are going to do a trail run at the Little Spokane River at the Painted Rocks Area. We used to only be able to walk this trail.
I didn't take this picture I found it on the internet. I'll take some when we are there this evening.
I'm looking forward to this run. I remember when I dreaded even walking this. It's about 3.5 miles and we used to do it in about an hour or so. Depending on how many time we had to stop. We aren't stopping today. (Except on the parts where you can't run and have to scramble over the rocks.)

Food yesterday was OK. About 75% clean. Husband and I went to lunch and I had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich. But dinner went perfect and I only had one glass of wine. Today has been good so far. The only thing I probably could have done without were the two Hershey's Kisses. Oh well.
Wine is the hardest thing for me. I love it! We are going wine tasting for our anniversary this weekend and I'm really excited.

I need to keep on track with eating clean so this weekend won't be as much of a set back.
I'm not about depriving myself. Sometimes I have to. Depends on what it is. I tend to obstinate from things that I don't need to eat.(Like cookies or cupcakes, yummm...) But I'm trying to practice moderation. That way I can stay on track but still have some of the things I like the most. Like having just one glass of wine, not three. :)

I'm not sure exactly what I'm making for dinner tonight. It will be something to do with ground turkey because we have 4lbs of it in the fridge. I'll keep you posted.

Before and In Between. No Afters Because I'm Not Done Yet.

I'm not quite where I want to be yet but I'm well on my way. These are the best pictures I could find at the moment. The first one was taken June 26th, 2010. Just about a year a go (I'm on the left). The second one I took last week in the dressing room at Big R. I was a size 14 and now I'm about an 8. (Depending on what clothing company. Why are all of their sizes different? ) At the bottom you will find my stats from three months of personal training. I'm most excited that I lost 10.5% body fat and that my LBM (Lean Body Mass) went up by about 10. Also, my measurements are way down from where I started. Super cool! Mus get back on the wagon though. I've fallen off a little bit. Today was a good start. :)

Things That Keep Me Going

Post Work Out

Ok so my work out went well today. Husband came with me and that is always fun. He is a much faster runner than I am so I kind of use him as my pace rabbit. :) I had a nice grove going on. I really don't like running all that much. I like it better than I did when I weighed 35lbs. more, but it still kinda sucks. (How did I even move back then? ugh.)
We did do a little walking instead of jogging towards the end. But we finished and at this point that is the goal.

Work Out Results:
1.92 Miles
23.08 minutes
12 intervals of 30 seconds at a fast run and 60 seconds at a jog.

At this point I'm really glad to even be moving and running around. During the months of March, April, and May I was working out really hard with a personal trainer. He is awesome and extremely knowledgeable. Not only did I have killer work outs I learned a lot about how to eat and exactly how much of what things I should be eating. It is at the point now where I just can't afford to do it. So this last month I have been taking a break from it. I'm not sure when I will be able to go back.

This break worked out well though. On my last workout with him I threw out my back. Totally my own fault. I had bad form on some kettle bell swings. Silly me. It caused me to miss 1 1/2 days of work. Lame I know. I'm 25, WTF? But it has happened to me two time before this. I just need to be careful. So this month has been very light on working out. I haven't lifted and I've only done about 2-3 days of cardio a week. And light days at that. I'm just now finally feeling where I can work out a little harder and more often. I'm still holding off on lifting until July rolls around. I just can't be injured again. Too many other things going on and I don' want to be laying on the couch now that the weather is finally getting nice.

I said that I would post a before picture. However, I can't get the stupid thing to upload. I will keep trying but no promises. In the meantime here is what I would like to look like.

You Gotta Start Somewhere

This blog is my place to keep track of all that I'm working on to make myself Epic. I figure it could be about anything i want it to be about. Right now getting in shape and being healthy is in the front of my mind. So I think that is the direction I'm going to go with. For now. :)

Later today I will post some starting pictures from when I was at my heaviest. About 195 lbs. (Yuck!) I know that weight is not the biggest indicator of fitness. However, when you see the pictures you will understand.
In the mean time, tonight's work out is on my mind. I'm going to take my husband running with me. (More on him later.) I think that I"m going to do my two mile loop and do some intervals.

It should look something like this:
5 minutes walking to warm up.
1 minute easy jog.
30 sec run.
repeat until I'm 2 blocks from home.
5 minute walk/cool down.
