My first CrossFit competition was this past Friday! EEEKkkk! I was really excited and really nevrious. Here were the workouts:
#1
500m row
20 GTO #55
20 burpees onto #45 bumper
#2
Pick any of the following weight and complete the assoicated reps. Do 3 burpees EMOTM. Make sure to start with 3 burpees
#55- 37 Reps
#45- 45 Reps
#35- 58 Reps
#3
120 yard prowler push at #160
I did all these workouts before the competition so I felt really good about the movements and about my pacing.
For WOD #1 I was the first person off the rower. I also got a very nice complement about my rowing technique from the owner of the CrossFit that was putting on the competition after we were done. Totally made my day!
I ended up placing 17th out of 31. I was in the middle of the pack for two of the WODs and I was towards the top on the prowler push. I was super stoked!
The other thing that was great was that there were two other women from the box competing with me in the same division. I felt a great sense of shared suffering. Something about stong women putting it all out there. It was hard but I had a great time.
Overall, I'm really glad I did it! My family was there to cheer me on and that felt great. My body responded exactly how I needed it to. I was exhaused by the time I was done. But it was a good feeling. Hard work, pain, suffering (both physically and emaotionally), and a lot of tears have gotten me to this point. I'm thanksful to my coaches, my family, my CrossFit family, and the many doctors and medical professional who have helped me along the way. However, I'm most thankful for my loving and supportive husband. He has stood by my side when I needed a partner, stood infront of me to protect me form others and sometimes from myself. He has stood behind me and picked me up when I have fallen, and he has been there to help me pick up the pieces when I have been complelty broken. I would not be where I am with out him. Tim I love you with all my heart!
